Dr. Baumgarten graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, after which he completed a residency at Washington University - Barnes Jewish Hospital. Dr. Baumgarten also completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. While there, he was an Associate Physician with the New York Mets baseball team. He also has experience with the St. Louis Rams, Blues and Cardinals sports teams and is the current Head Team Physician for the Sioux Falls Stampede and the Team Physician for Dakota State University.

Dr. Baumgarten specializes in sports medicine and shoulder surgery and also practices general orthopedics. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
